King Buvanekabahu II
Kingdom of Kurunegala
1293 AC - 1302 AC

The prince Bhuvanekabahu II, who defeated King Parakramabahu III, ascended the throne in AD 1293, making Yapahuwa his capital. He was also known as Sri Nivasa Bhuvanekabahu.

After ruling from Yapahuwa for seven years, he later chose Kurunegala as his capital in AD 1300. King Bhuvanekabahu II remained in power until AD 1302.

It is recorded in the Mahavamsa that King Bhuvanekabahu II provided alms utensils for the preparation of food for one thousand monks. It is also mentioned that he annually held the Mauli festival, and during the month of Poson he conducted a grand Upasampada ordination ceremony with great religious offerings.

After his death, his son, King Parakramabahu IV, succeeded him to the throne.
