After the death of King Kashyapa, also known as Vikramabahu, a commander named Kitti desired to become king. It can be considered that this person was the same Mukuhamu-vasi Kitti Senaviya mentioned earlier. Some hold this view. However, there is no evidence to confirm it. Therefore, he could also have been another person. King Kitti ruled for only about eight days. He was killed, and another person named Mahalana Kitti became king.

In the History of Ceylon compiled by the University of Ceylon, it is stated that after the untimely death of the sixth Kashyapa, also known as Vikramabahu, Mahalana Kitti ascended the throne. The Kitti who ruled for eight days has been omitted. Perhaps Professor Senarath Paranavitana regarded both of these as the same individual. During this period, there were several persons by the name of Kitti. However, the Mahavamsa mentions these two specifically. In contrast, none of the other chronicles — such as the Pujavaliya, Nikaya Sangrahaya, Rajavaliya, or Rajaratnakaraya — record a king by the name of Kitti. This may have been an omission by those authors.

However, although this king reigned only for eight days, he may have made attempts to secure authority, at least in a portion of the Rohana region.
