King Parakrama Pandu
Kingdom of Ruhuna
1046 AC - 1048 AC

After King Jagatpala was slain by the Cholas, the land of Rohana once again fell into disorder. It was then that Prince Parakrama, the son of the previously mentioned King Vikramapandya, ascended the throne of Rohana. During the battle in which his father lost his life to King Jagatpala, Prince Parakrama had gone into hiding to save himself. There is no record that he fled to a foreign land.

After the death of Jagatpala, King Parakrama ruled over Rohana for two years. Thereafter, the Cholas captured and killed him as well.

As previously mentioned, the Manimangalam inscription speaks of a person named Sri Vallabha Madana Raja, who was destroyed by the Cholas. Such a name is not found in the Sinhala chronicles. However, the Mahavamsa makes it clear that the King Parakrama (Pandya) mentioned therein refers to this same individual. There is no doubt that Vikramapandya and Parakramapandya belonged to the Pandya royal lineage.

It also appears that the Pandya princes, who suffered attacks from the Cholas, had maintained friendly relations with the Sinhalese and that they may have cooperated with the rulers of Lanka in efforts to resist the Chola domination.
