After the short reign of King Siri Naga II, who did not live long enough to hold the throne for many years, Prince Vijaya ascended the throne. The Mahavamsa records that he was the son of King Siri Naga. In the Nikaya Sangrahaya, Rajaavaliya, and other chronicles, he is mentioned as King Vijayidu.

He ruled the kingdom only for about one year. During his reign, he was overpowered by three princes of the Lambakarna dynasty who came from Mahiyangana. No record exists of any significant activity performed during the reign of King Vijayidu.
